The Give & The Take Release Debut EP

The Give & The Take Debut EP is Available Now!

Emerging from the bustling Charleston, SC music scene, the self-titled debut from The Give & The Take displays an established sound often absent from first releases. Traditional piano drive and soulful vocals from the groups figure head, Charlotte Laird, recall iconic songwriters of the 70’s while modern lyrical themes root each track firmly in the present. Where confident instrumentation lays the foundation, it is Laird’s honesty and vulnerability within her lyrics that has garnered the attention of first time listeners. The primary musical themes are straightforward rock; however, the albums clear standout “Dear Self” offers promising insight into the bands potential. “Shame on you for making me feel insecure, and same of me for letting you,” Laird sings over a lush blend of analog and electronic tones. Within these inflections, producer and Coast Records founder, Matt Zutell, clearly gives the young band space to explore their evolving identity while still providing the polish necessary to bring the album to a complete and enjoyable product.
