Meet Matt Zutell, Founder of Coast Records

Like many musicians, Zutell started recording songs in his bedroom in high school. But his first break came during his tenure at College of Charleston, wherein he landed an internship and eventual recording projects with Mark Bryan, notable for his work as the lead guitarist in the Grammy award-winning band, Hootie and the Blowfish.

Growing his business organically and developing a strong local network, Zutell’s body of work now includes nearly every notable act in the Charleston area, and has bolstered bands like Susto and Atlas Road Crew as they transition beyond local and into mainstream success.

In all, projects produced by Zutell have received millions of combined streams on Spotify, and landed him on the cover of the Charleston City Paper. His engineering work is consistently credited with turning local rock club, The Royal American, into a much sought after destination for touring acts from around the country. Making him one of the city’s most notable cultural figures and influencers.
